A thorough exploration of monasteries and fortress of Lhasa, we explore the ancient
towns of Gyantse
& Shigatse, and the adventurous overland journey along the southern
route to the sacred Mt. Kailash and trek around this
fabled mountain are the major highlights of this trip. In Lhasa we visit the Potala palace, Drepung and Sera monasteries, the Norbulinka and of course the famous Jokhang temple includes the surrounding Barkhor.
After exploring Lhasa you begin your overland adventure. Along the way you cross the Kamba la (4794m) and the Karo la pass (5010m), both grant spectacular views. After the Kamba la you come to Yamdrok tso, also known as the Turquoise Lake. And visit Gyantse stupa and monastery followed by a two hour drive to Shigatse. Here see the giant Buddha in the famous Tashilumpo monastery. The seat of the Panchen Lama.
Driving across the hypnotic landcape of the Tibetan Plateau brings
us to Lake Manasarovar, our journey continues to Mt. Kailash where
we complete a three day kora (trek) around this beautiful mountain.
We then drive across vast Tibetan plateau before heading south to
the Nepalese border and returning to Kathmandu. This trip offers
a lifetime memories of stunning scenery and cultural highlights of Tibet.
